Coming off Crestwood's two game winning streak, where they defeated Southeast and Field, The Red Devils (6-7) (2-2 in PTC) are looking to gain momentum as the season progresses. Tony Sargiovanni, David Brock, Aaron Jackson, and Andy Auble have not disappointed Crestwood baseball fans in their senior year. Coach John Bakalar states that the team can rely on senior Andy Auble for leaderships purposes. "Andy can hit. Period. He leads our team right now in batting average and has been the most consistent player on our team. If he is playing well, we are going to have a great season. He has done everything from get on base, steal bases and drive runs in." Auble leads the team with a .457 batting average; the best on the team. Sargiovanni, who threw his first career no-hitter in the second game of this young season, has impressed in all facets. What has been impressive about Sargiovanni is his ability to pitch with stunning velocity and control. His hitting has also been key for the Red Devils as well. Sargiovanni leads the team with an ERA of 3.06 with 2 wins and 1 loss on the season. In his three games that he has started, he has a total of 15 strikeouts, two complete games, one shutout and most importantly, only second to David Brock, with 176 strikes thrown on the season. Sargiovanni has important for the Devils success, but David Brock been arguably the most valuable player on the team. David Brock leads the team in just about every category, hitting and pitching. He has two wins and one loss on the season, with a 3.36 ERA. He is leading the team in strikeouts with 28 and throwing the lowest total of balls thrown at 98, meaning the opponents that face the Red Devils have had a hard time this season walking to first base. His hitting has been key as well, with a .267 batting average. He also has won PTC baseball player of the week. Aaron Jackson, in his senior year, is having a career season. Not only is he the spark on offense with a .371 batting average, he is one of Crestwood's top pitchers with a 3.43 ERA. Bakalar admits that the team still has a lot of work to do before the season is over. "We have played four Division I schools and are 0-4 in those games. We scheduled a tough schedule to prepare us to win league and go deep into the playoffs. But in order to win the PTC, we must get better defensively. That has been our teams' heel this year so far." The Red Devils take on Ravenna, a home and away series. If they can beat Ravenna, they will be in good shape for the rest of the season.
