FFF Life Post-Season Awards And Special Letter
First of all, the first part of the video is our panel of PortageTrailCentral.com reporters picking their top players in the PTC including their overall conference MVP. That's for those that are interested. Here it is.
For those of you that are interested, the second part of that clip is great. In 2-minutes, it describes everything that this show was about. There was some great moments, there were some really funny moments, and there were some moments that looked absolutely terrible. That's ok with me. We tried things, we made mistakes, and most importantly we learned. We started this site just a year ago, and now we have incredible content (that is not always the best, I won't lie) and a brand new football show on some wonderful athletes, teams and communities. Sometimes at TV2 and PortageTrailCentral.com we forget that we are just students, and the most important thing as that we grow, because no matter what, we have to continually get better at what we're doing before we step into the professional world.
The scary thing about this site, about this show, and about the station is that we are officially professionals the second we start working here, because we go live to Portage County and elsewhere. Yes, this entire thing is on the internet. Have we recieved negative complaints about things we've done on the show? Yes, have we gotten better this entire semester? I would say so. I hope that anyone that's reading this realizes that this show, that has officially ended on-air for the season, is the start of something big and I'm glad I got to be apart of this and help start it.
It's great to thank people behind the scenes, in private, but sometimes people need to know who does the work. So, to all my reporters, to the tech crew, to anyone that helped on Triple F Life, to anyone that watched and liked the show (or hated it, whatever), and to those of you that are reading this because you simply care about the PTC and wanted score updates, I want to say thank you. I hope that you've enjoyed these seven shows as much as I have, and don't worry, there's more great things to come.
One last thing: Be about that life.
Justin Rockhold

Football Power Rankings: Week 1
Game of the Week: Ravenna vs. Tallmadge
Ravenna seeks redemption in week one matchup versus Tallmadge
Last season, the Ravenna Ravens suffered a one-point loss to the Tallmadge Blue Devils in the final minutes of the game. This season, the Ravens are looking for sweet revenge.
Ravenna, the favorite to win the PTC Metro division, is seeking a playoff appearance after barely missing the Division III playoffs in 2010, despite winning their conference. A tough schedule kicks off with their week one matchup versus Tallmadge, the reigning Suburban League champions and Region V semi-finalists. However, it is a game that the Ravens are excited to play.
“We’re coming back with a venegance,” said Ravenna running back D.J. Jones. “I can’t wait. I’ve been waiting for it since we lost to them last year.”
Jones rushed for 1,388 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2010, and will look to improve upon last season’s stellar performance in 2011. It all starts with this week’s game at Tallmadge. Jones isn’t doing it alone, however. Matt Benson leads a group of offensive linemen that are bent on opening holes wide enough for a Mack truck to drive through for Jones this season.
“It’s going to be great,” Benson said. “We want some payback, so hopefully we can give it back to them.”
Tallmadge is no slouch, either. After going 11-1 and 7-0 in Suburban League play in 2010, the Blue Devils will return 12 starters, six on each side of the ball. Running backs Dylan Getz and Tyrin Williams create a fearsome one-two punch in the backfield for the Blue Devils, whose only loss in 2010 came at the hands of Ashland in the regional semi-finals, ending their undefeated season. Ravenna isn’t the only team looking for a little revenge; Tallmadge will surely take the field with as much passion and vigor as the Ravens do, especially considering how last season ended for the Blue Devils. Ravenna has spent must of the offseason working to get better, both physically and mentally. Senior linebacker Dylan Tirpak understood what caused the Ravens’ loss to Tallmadge in 2010, and says that they have focus on correcting the mistakes that resulted in a heartbreaking, 29-28 loss last August.
“I think it’s all about discipline,” Tirpak said. “I think we lost last year because we didn’t know what we were doing, assignments were lost. This year we’re working a lot harder.”
Jones echoed Tirpak’s statements about the team’s work ethic in preparation of what they hope is a highly successful 2011 campaign.
“Staying strong, practicing hard and working hard in the offseason,” said Jones. “I think we’ll get the win this year.”
